2 Watches. One with only hour hand, the other with only minute hand, requiring one person to wear both watches, or two people to work together in order to tell the time.
Toilet paper. Rarely a single use object, still a very private-use object. In private homes and public places the toilet paper roll is used by person after person, always appearing germ free and for one's singular use. Dividing walls, anterooms, locks, and other strategic design elements provide a sense of private use about the toilet paper roll. If these walls were removed, a world of negotiation would ensue. It is one thing to crack open the bathroom door and yell to your housemates, "Throw me a roll!" and quite another to sit down next to someone, share your business, and bother them for just a square.
